PhD & MS Research Openings
MetaDynLab is seeking motivated PhD and MS students to join our research group. We are looking for students interested in fundamental and applied research involving nonlinear dynamics, shock and wave phenomena, wave-based computing, wave mechanics, and phononic systems/metamaterials.
Our research combines analytical, computational, and experimental approaches to understand and engineer complex dynamical and wave-based systems.
Research Areas
• Nonlinear dynamics and nonlinear wave propagation
• Wave mechanics and elastic/acoustic waves
• Phononic systems and mechanical metamaterials
• Wave-based and physical computing
• Dynamics, vibrations, and stability
• Numerical and computational mechanics
• Experimental characterization of wave systems
Preferred Qualification
Applicants from Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Physics, Mathematics, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Experience or interest in dynamics, vibrations, mechanics, wave propagation, numerical modeling, MATLAB/Python, finite-element methods, COMSOL, scientific computing, or experimental mechanics is desirable.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with enthusiasm for independent research, are highly valued.
How to Apply
Interested students should send the following to mhasan10@uwyo.edu:
CV/Resume • Academic Transcript • Brief Statement of Research Interests • Relevant Publications/Projects, if available
Email Subject: PhD/MS Application – MetaDynLab
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
